Start with a moment, not an object
Before you look at anything to buy, write down one moment you share with them: the day you met, the exam they cleared, the phone call that changed things. The gift is there to hold that moment.
Pick one detail and do it well
A name, a date, or one line of text is plenty. Too many details compete with each other. If you're unsure, a date is often the strongest choice — it means nothing to anyone else and everything to them.

- A line — something you actually say to each other
